The Washington College Gospel Choir, was formed in 1997 by two students; Colleena Wiseman, 99' and Brock Hayslett, 00'. These two students were former Gospel choirmates at Potomac High School and wanted to bring the joy and excitement they felt about the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the Washington College campus. They worked diligently to establish the choir and their hard work in setting a firm foundation has enabled the choir to continue into its fifth year.

The choir, under the direction of Reverend Eric Scott, tries to share with people an understanding of the love that God feels toward all of us and of His saving grace. All the members of the choir believe in the sincere message of the music that they sing and also believe that Gospel music brings hope and joy to all those who truly hear the message being sent.

Their offering of Gospel music incorporates both new and traditional music styles, however, the meaning of the music never changes because the empowering message of it is constant, no matter the style. They consider each event they do as an offering of praise to God, not a performance. The word Gospel means Good News, which is the spiritual message of Jesus Christ. Their music incorporates His message and by their music they try to reach out to those who hear it and draw them to Christ and His salvation.

The choir, it's Director, and its members, are committed to the honor and responsibility of bringing forth God's word in song, as well as in their daily lives and ministries. They strive to continue to prove the tremendous power of the words they sing and reflect the greatness of God's holiness, His goodness and His never ending love.
