How to Force Quit Applications when they're not responding

1)	Press the Option + Apple + Escape keys to bring up the Force Quit menu.
This will give you a list of all currently running applications, including
applications running in the background.
2)	Highlight the program that is not responding for you and click Force
Quit.
3)	You will be asked if you want to Force Quit the desired application.
Select Force Quit.
4)	Note that the program will be closed down and any unsaved information
will be lost, so if you're working on something important, save frequently.

On Mac OS 9

1)	Press the Option + Apple+ Escape to quit a program. Your unsaved work
will be lost. You will probably get a message saying that you need to
restart.
2)	To restart the computer, press Control + Apple + Left Triangle (power
button). You will not receive any warning message, it will just perform
the restart.

On Windows 2000

1)	Press the Ctrl + Alt + Delete keys to bring up the Security Menu.
2)	Select Task Manager from this menu.
3)	Select the Applications tab if it's not already selected. You will be
shown a list of all currently running applications, including applications
running in the background. You will also be given the current status of
these programs.
4)	If a program has Not Responding listed under its status column, select
it and click End Task.
5)	Note that the program will be closed down and any unsaved information
will be lost, so if you're working on something important, save frequently.
